Lessons

Lessons take place on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday evenings from 4.00pm. At The Violin Hut, I provide 10 individual lessons a term, and the lesson cost includes 6 short group repertoire lessons via Zoom, plus a play-together each term. Any extra cost incurred will simply be for the hire of a venue, which may only be once a year. Click here to see dates.

My aim is to enable children and young people to gain a skill that will enhance their experience of life, develop their cognitive skill, their listening, their awareness, and their confidence. Lessons are delivered with good humour and fun, but also with meaning and purpose. I also aim to bring opportunities for self expression and social interaction.

The private lessons enable each student to address their individual needs and musical tastes and the group repertoire lessons develop technique and stamina. The playtogethers provide the social aspect and the all important ingredient of learners being inspired and motivated by fellow learners.

I can only partially provide the social aspect, however, through the termly play-together – please explore the opportunities available to young players in the Wyre Forest. Here is a link to activities – Lift Off! and String Stars! – for beginners up to Grade 3, provided free of charge by Severn Arts. You may know of other groups in which your child can participate.

Lessons will be invoiced each term and you will need to pay the bill within 30 days. There will be one spare week each half term to enable missed lessons to be made up. Any other lessons missed by me will not be charged to you. Lessons missed by you will still need to be paid for.

My love for teaching the violin and my ability to do so is a result of my Suzuki teacher training with the British Suzuki Music Association, of which I am a member, and through whom I gain continued professional development and support.

Any families coming to me as brand new students from September 2019 have chosen to have Suzuki lessons and will be expected to become members of the B.S.M.A. The fee is £45. Details are on their website, just go to www.britishsuzuki.org.uk Here, you will also find details of activities taking place that may be of interest to you and for which BSMA membership is a requirement. Many other families may also wish to become members because of the access gained to motivational activities, workshops and learning opportunities.
